March 2022 – LEARNING FROM APOLLINAIRE: Non-linear calligraphy

Can you just grab a pen, start anywhere on the page, and create a good piece of calligraphy? Can you skip the planning, build contrasts, and invent the words as you go? Using the Calligrammes of Apollinaire and other sources of inspiration, we will work spontaneously to create fascinating non-linear calligraphy that is dynamic, rich in contrast and full of surprises. We will mix styles, change pens, and stretch letters into new shapes. You will be amazed to see a unique composition take shape before your eyes!

Excellent! Just what is needed in my journey.

Learning to use calligraphy in a painterly way is what I want to learn and do, and this course has really put me on the right path. Thank you Brody!

A great class with a lot of information. Brody tries always to push you to the top. Thanks for your feedback. It is precious

great ideas, great teaching, encouraging crit session! Thanks so much!
