About Course

Description

The cola can pen remains one of my favorite writing instruments. It is capable of so many things, from rough to smooth, from thin to thick, from splattered to refined. I will show you how I use the pen and then define some principles by which you can develop your own gestural scripts without imitating other calligraphers. Script is, after all, a very personal form of expression. But finding your own voice is not always easy when there are amazing posts on Instagram every day that might exert a powerful influence over your work. We will look at this problem very closely and see how you can create your own gestural style.

This course continued to impact me in significant ways. Brody's vast knowledge, his guidance, and his self-effacing humor made such a difference in how I perceived myself in relation to making letters....oh, what a difference. It kind of blew my world apart in a most positive way.
great as all the others - recommendation!

Excellent Series: full of interesting ideas and a challenging assignment. Quite pleased that it's the last one before the two month gap so that I can continue working. The interaction with the tutor is as good as expected - Brody is amazing. But I also really value the study group that I joined. So nice to meet other students - even though we are far apart - and share our thoughts on each others endeavours.
